2024.11.08 The 6th TGIF Seminar : The impact of Commercial Space Launches on Aviation and Maritime Activities

We are delighted to share the success of our 6th seminar, The Impact of Commercial Space Launches on Aviation and Maritime Activities, held on November 8. The seminar featured a compelling talk by renowned researcher Prof. Chunyan Yu, a full professor from David B. O’Maley College of Business, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Prof. Yu explored the growing challenges posed by the increasing frequency of commercial space launches. She highlighted the often-overlooked negative impacts on airspace and maritime port users—an issue that has received limited academic attention thus far.

As Japan continues to develop its space industry, with potential increases in commercial launches similar to those in the United States, it may be necessary to examine these impacts more closely. This seminar was a valuable opportunity to initiate discussions on this emerging field.
