We are pleased to announce that TGIF will host 5th<\/sup> workshop on 8 March on the first floor of Mirai Crea, Hiroshima University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farm-based solar power generation (solar sharing) is a small-scale facility installed in the upper space of farmland, and power is generated while farming continues in the lower space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is expected to be a new way of expanding the introduction of renewable energy and the increase of farmers’ income. In addition, considering the future shift to electric smart agriculture, the withdrawal of gas stations in mountainous areas, and the frequent natural disasters, local power generation and local production for local consumption will become extremely important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The national “Basic Plan for Food, Agriculture, and Rural Areas” also states that, in order to improve rural incomes and economic circulation within the region, they are going to promote the introduction of renewable energies such as farm-based solar power generation. They also promote a distributed energy system using local renewable energies so that they can ensure a stable supply of energy during disasters in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are many problems with the actual introduction of farm-based solar power generation. For example, farmers end up closing down farming due to the bad impact on crop cultivation, or farm-based solar power generation cannot lead to community revitalization or disaster countermeasures. This is why there is strong opposition to its promotion among some people in the agricultural industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TGIF at Hiroshima University has planned the following workshop with the participation of local government officials, businesses, university researchers, students, and others, in addition to local farmers. We would like to learn about trends in national policies and the latest technologies related to farm-based solar power generation and discuss how we should tackle issues related to the spread of farm-based solar power generation in the future.
